We are now open for our 2017 submissions! Please submit your films via FilmFreeway:

The Moonrise Film Festival seeks to find today’s great and emerging film talents, and engage audiences with their work in the heart of the Cariboo, under the historic roof of The Sunset Theatre in Wells, BC. Every year, we pride ourselves on screening freshly independent animation, documentary, experimental, and fiction films from across Canada and around the world. Last year we had 5 Canadian filmmakers attend our festival, giving audiences a chance to interact first-hand with them in intimate Q&A sessions!

OUR 2016 YEAR:

From August 26th-28th 2016, we screened 30 independent short and feature films by Canadian and International filmmakers. Vancouver filmmaker Corbin Saleken was in attendance to present his celebrated feature film debut, Patterson's Wager, (Official Selection: VIFF ' 15; Whistler FF '15), and participated in an after film Q&A. As well, we were honored to kick off our opening night with acclaimed documentary, Fractured Land ("Voted: Best BC Film" - VIFF '15; "Top 10 Favourite" - Hot Docs '15), by Damien Gillis and Fiona Rayher, complete with an introduction by guest speaker Yvonne Tupper, to share her experience protesting BC's Site C dam construction.
