Presenting

The Sunset Theatre takes play submissions year round. For the past two seasons the programming has been only in the summer months, however with the installation of a commercial pellet furnace, the theatre will be operational year-round as of the fall of 2008. Because of the small local population most runs are 3-5 shows in length. The type of show that the Sunset Theatre is looking for varies, so please feel free to send along your play submission.

Presenting contracts during the summer are based on CAEA minimums +, accommodation, travel by car and a small per-diem. If you are wondering why they are broken down, it's because accommodation and travel in the area are very limited and arrangements need to be made through the theatre. The only mode of travel into Wells is by car.

We have had many submissions and inquiries from Fringe Artists. The Sunset lends itself to this type of production however we are looking for shows that could ideally play beyond the Fringe. If you have a Fringe show that you would like to explore further or take it to the next level both artistically and technically then the Sunset Theatre is probably a perfect fit.

Producing

Last year the Sunset Theatre co-produced Macbeth which was very successful. We are looking for other projects to produce and co-produce. The Sunset Theatre had a three year plan to present plays while building an audience base and a broader awareness that the theatre was up and running. We are entering our third presenting season and have embarked on looking for projects to produce. If you have an idea please let us know.

Retreats

The Sunset Theatre exists for the Artist. In its ultimate form, the Sunset Theatre will be a retreat for theatre artists to come and create in a pristine, remote and supportive community. The theatre is fully equipped and can provide enough support to fulfill an artists vision. Please check out the Tech-Specs to see what we have to offer. While staying in Wells the company will have accommodation provided - although sleeping arrangement for larger companies may need to be creative.
