The Ballad of Georges Boivin

  • Sunset Theatre Society 2357 Pooley Street Wells, BC, V0K 2R0 Canada (map)

“Beautifully written, directed, designed and acted, and it has so much to say about aging, friendship, and, above all, the enduring qualities of love.”

– Louis B. Hobson, Calgary Herald

About the Play

The Ballad of Georges Boivin is a heart-warming story familiar to anyone who has had an impressionable first love and after many decades is left wondering. It is a gentle comedy that appeals to all ages but has particular relevance to those who have lived a little longer.

We follow Georges, a 76 year old retired school teacher on a cross-country road trip as he attempts to re-connect with a person he hasn’t seen or heard from in over 50 years. All he has is a 50 year old address in Vancouver.

Accompanying Georges are three old geezers from the retirement home in Montreal who humour Georges and go with him on this adventure - all thinking that they’ll be home that night for dinner.

The play features Duval Lang, a prominent, award winning, Calgary actor as Georges and is directed by Bronwyn Steinberg. The production premiered at Lunchbox Theatre in the spring of 2024.
